The Kearsarge Food Hub is celebrating its 10 Year milestone thanks to the care and cooperation of many! From an effort led by 6 original co-founders to a staff of 20+ folks, a board of 10 individuals, dozens of committed volunteers, and hundreds of generous donors (like YOU!) this work — and its impact on the lives of thousands of people throughout the region— is a result of diligent, collective action.
KFH is in a pivotal year of its journey and we need your help to grow into the next decade. This work is more important than ever.
Food insecurity is growing. Farmers are struggling. Children need more opportunities to connect and get outside. The stark division of our time is growing, and we all need tangible ways to build bridges that connect us to our neighbors and the planet that sustains us.
Food is at the heart of all of these issues, and KFH is committed to making the meaningful change we need most a reality. We simply cannot do this work without the generosity of donors like you.
With our newly-launched values in place - Collaborative Stewardship, Inclusive Engagement, Conscientious Innovation, and Joyful Renewal - and a strategic planning process underway, we are prepared to lean into the messy middle of building what’s next.

Our Core Values are more than just words - they have inspired - and continue to inspire - action that has real tangible impact. 
They are operationalized through day to day programming and services that impact the lives of thousands of Kearsarge area residents. We have 6 distinct program areas: Sweet Beet Farm, Market, & Cafe, alongside our Education, Food Security, and Community Building programs. These programs work together to create a significant impact in our community. With your help, we can build off the impact we made just last year in 2024:
- Host 250 students of all ages on the farm for curriculum based hands-on programming
- Support 8 food pantries & our own FREEdge with weekly donations of mostly fresh, local, produce - which is in high demand - to neighbors in need. A program serves 7,000 Kearsarge neighbors.
- Distribute 11,000 seeds and plants to over 300 homes through community partnerships such as the ASP and Tray it Forward AND we support those folks with ongoing educational resources
- Help Support 250 local and regional food vendors with over half a million dollars in purchasing

As you can imagine, working in the food industry requires many, many resources. From growing the food to storage, distribution, and retail, to cooking in the kitchen, margins are slim. Sales from our Sweet Beet enterprises go a long way in supporting this work, but the programs that we're able to provide to the community, like food donations and education, are entirely donor-supported.
Building the bridges between farmers and neighbors, where farmers get fair prices and folks can afford their products, takes time, effort, energy, and strategy. It requires community support.
